Hello PBNation, I haven't seen a thread around here for just general tech photos and whatnot so I figured I would post some of the stuff that I work on for you guys to look at. Who knows, maybe it will help someone fix a similar problem. :D A little background...My name is Tim, I live in Northern CA and operate a business specializing in paintball repairs called Paintball Tek. I have been working on markers and gear for quite a long time (10+ years) and have been playing even longer. I have worked for quite a few different shops and fields here in NorCal as a tech including the well known Palmers Pursuit Shop and have recently done some work with Planet Eclipse as a traveling tech. In the time I have been working on markers I have had almost everything come across my desk including rarities like the Nelson 707, PVI Cyber 9000, BE-90, and Typhoon P-1. Most of those were from the BacciPaintball.com museum, heh. I have also worked on nearly every modern paint slinging marker availible starting with the LED Angels and going all the way to the new Eclipse LV1's and even the pre-release J4 Torque. Additionally I also perform service on hoppers, air tank regulators, and can do electronics work as well as certain small milling projects (and hopefully some larger projects in the future). I will be updating this thread as I go with photos of new work and issues with markers that I have come across. If you want to keep a bit more current with the things I do you can always check out my facebook page at: www.facebook.com/PaintballTek If you have any questions about anything feel free to ask! I will try and be as quick with responses as I can. I can also try and help with certain repairs or problems, but there are some things obviously that are much easier to diagnose in person than though a computer screen. ALSO! If any of you other techs want to post pics of some of the interesting work you guys come across I would love to see it! I may even share some of them on my page if they are neat enough! http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=420322801386978 Attaching a new wiring harness to an OG Quest Solenoid. The original one was ripped off when the customer removed the frame and accidently pulled the wire with it. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=327319847353941 Surgery to try and diagnose a problem with a battery connector on an older Centerflag Automag Hyper Frame....going to end up hard-soldering in a wiring harness to this one since the connector isn't working how it should... http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=408396279246297 Re-attaching the wires to a Prophecy Z2 motor. I loaned out this hopper to one of my sponsored teams and it came back with a giant HK sticker on it......not to happy about that one. Also, when I took it apart to clean it the wires just fell off...not fun either... http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=442801512472440 A spyder clone that was in for repair. The outside was perfectly clean with no scratches or paint residue or rust...and then this came out when I pulled the internals. Had to do some heavy duty cleaning to get to the photo on the right. The striker had to be gone over with a wire wheel to get the corrosion off. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=351894521563140 Using a very small dremel bit to remove some metal from a spyder frame. The bottom line screw snapped off and it was jammed in the frame so a tiny bit of aluminum needs to come off to get it out. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=204255309660396 A fleet of rental equipment to disassemble, soak, scrub clean, re-oil, re-assemble, and chrono. That was a fun week of work! http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=403191336433458 So...The screw in the picture on the left was the one that came in the front grip frame hole...The picture on the right is the inside of the body where the sheet metal screw pushed the metal into the valve chamber so I couldn't remove the valve....with a little careful filing I was able to fix it thankfully... http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=482560738496517 Here is a Sheridan .20 cal pistol disassembled, notice how it has similar internals to the original style PGP. I left a 12 gram in it all day and it still shot so I'd say the new seals I installed are holding up pretty well. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=428818677204057 here's a pretty simple repair that I did today for a customer, removal of a stripped screw from a Luxe Board. Just used a small dremel cutting wheel to notch the screw head and it came out just fine. Simple but necessary repair and much too delicate for EZ-Outs. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=403216489764276 Here is a stainless steel hardline install I did for a customer on his Ion. The SS is 1/4" OD so it will fit in normal macroline fittings and it should never leak as long as the seals in the fittings are ok. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=375848302501095 Setting a new button in place on the shocker upper board to be soldered into place. I used a small needle nose pliers to hold it in place while I melted the solder on the other side of the button so it would stay in place. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=349092095176716 Removing a snapped off banjo fitting from an Ion grip frame. Just remember, they don't need 50lb of torque to make them seal, heh. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=482858871800037 Repairing an Ion button, luckily this one was only snapped off fully on one side so I could just re-attach it. Most of them are broken off and lost or destroyed so they have to be replaced completely. I luckily got a batch of new buttons so I can replace them easily now. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=408390032580255 Got a mini in the mail today with a 'bad noid'. Well turns out the noid was indeed toast, however that's not the reason why it wasn't clicking all the way...Notice something wrong with the connector pins? http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=460731304012794 Every now and then it's a good practice to take your marker apart and clean it up a bit...If you can ask yourself "when was the last time I cleaned and lubed my marker?" and you have to think for more than 10 seconds about the answer you should probably go do it immediately. Just some friendly techie advice :-) http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=353180091434583 Pulling apart an Axe ASA assembly to take care of a leaky o-ring in the purge system. It's called the JBS King Cobra and was the basis for the design that Empire has capitalized on. In the video I go over some of the original parts that the cockers came with around 1991-1992 and explain the way they worked as well as some of the differences between older parts and some of the newer style ones that have been used since. Check out Dan's video on his youtube channel above as well as the follow up video with Jorge Cervantez shooting it in the 'Trick Shot Range' here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95LyT5m-X7U http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=299573656795227 [IMG][/IMG] Close up of a snapped GA piston with the gouge marks on the shaft from their steel main spring. Even after cleaning up the parts a bit you can still see some of the brass dust on the main spring and on the pin if you look closely. This brass dust will also travel through your marker and has the potential to cause damage or gum things up. I hope the new V3 GA Regs are better than these. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=284403054978954 [IMG][/IMG] Pratt checking for leaks in the system and tightening up one loose fitting on tank #6.
